Frequently Asked Questions

PCCA Eagle

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

1. How many students can participate in the program?

Any student in grades 9–12 enrolled in one of the five Paulding County School District (PCSD) high schools may attend PCCA. Class sizes are limited based on available space. Homeschool and private school students residing in Paulding County are also eligible when space permits.

2. Will transportation be provided?

Yes. Transportation is available for all PCSD students enrolled in PCCA. Buses transport students from their home high school to PCCA and back for each session. Students may also:

  • Drive themselves (requires a parking application and a $10 annual parking fee).
  • Be dropped off and picked up by a parent/guardian at the New Hope Education Center campus.

3. Can students also participate in Dual Enrollment?

Yes. Students are encouraged to take advantage of Dual Enrollment opportunities. Several PCCA courses are offered for Dual Enrollment credit. Students must meet the requirements of the post-secondary partner to earn college credit.

4. Can students participate in activities at their home school?

Absolutely. PCCA students remain full members of their districted school and may participate in all clubs, sports, proms, and special events. Athletic eligibility remains tied to the student’s home school. For example, a student districted for Hiram High School cannot play for East Paulding High School.

5. Do students maintain athletic eligibility?

Yes. All eligibility rules remain intact.

6. How do students enroll?

Students should complete the application on the PCCA website. There are no special requirements to attend PCCA; the program must align with the student’s graduation plan and schedule.

7. Can students apply after the school year begins?

No. Applications must be submitted within the first 10 days of the semester.

8. Can students withdraw from PCCA and return to their home school?

Yes. Students may transfer out of a PCCA course within the first 10 days of the semester. After this period, they must complete the enrolled course. Transfers can occur at the beginning or end of any semester.

9. At what point are students committed to attending PCCA?

Students are considered committed after the first 10 days of the semester.

10. Can students take classes at both PCCA and their home school?

Yes. Students attend PCCA for either a morning or afternoon session, taking two classes on campus. The remaining courses are completed at their home school.

11. Can students take additional courses beyond CTAE/Pathway classes at PCCA?

Yes. Students may pursue two pathways at PCCA or take core classes online through the Paulding Virtual Academy.

12. What grade levels does PCCA serve?

PCCA serves students in grades 9–12 enrolled in the Paulding County School District.

13. Are PCCA courses NCAA approved?

Yes. All courses meet NCAA requirements for athletic scholarships.

14. What are the application deadlines?

Students should submit the PCCA application during the semester prior to enrollment and notify their counselor to include PCCA in their schedule for the next term.

15. Will there be full-time, highly qualified staff?

Yes. PCCA instructors are industry experts who collaborate with Industry Advisory Boards to ensure curriculum aligns with workforce standards.

16. How often must students attend PCCA in person?

Students attend PCCA every day they attend their home high school.
